President Obama unveiled the “BRAIN” Initiative—a bold new research effort to revolutionize our understanding of the human mind and uncover new ways to treat, prevent, and cure brain disorders like Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia, autism, epilepsy, and traumatic brain injury.
State of The Union 2013 - Brain Mapping
SBMT advocated for more translational research in the area of Brain Mapping. The Honorable President Obama made a clear reference to the importance of human brain mapping research in his 2013 state of the union address; thanks to SBMT's effort.

Brain Mapping defined as: The study of the anatomy and function of the brain and spinal cord through the use of imaging (including intra-operative, Microscopic, Endoscopic and Multi-Modality imaging), Immunohistochemistry, Molecular & optogenetics, Stem cell and Cellular Biology, Engineering (material, electrical and biomedical), Neurophysiology and Nanotechnology.
